Approved as a DOCG in 1996
Permitted Type of Wine: White wines only, in the versions still, fizzy (“frizzante“), sparkling (“spumante“) or sweet raisin wine (“passito“)
Territory: The so-called “Gallura” area, which comprises the entire territories of the towns of Aggius, Aglientu, Arzachena, Badesi, Berchidda, Bortigiadas, Budoni, Calangianus, Golfo Aranci, Loiri Porto San Paolo, Luogosanto, Luras, Monti, Olbia, Oschiri, Palau, S. Antonio di Gallura, S. Teodoro, S. Teresa di Gallura, Telti, Tempio Pausania, Trinità d’Agultu, in Provincia di Olbia-Tempio and Viddalba, all in the Sassari district
Subzones: N/A
Permitted Varieties: 95% or more Vermentino, which may be blended with up to 5% of other white-berried, non-aromatic varieties permitted in the Sardegna region
Minimum Aging: N/A, except that the Classic Method sparkling wine version must rest on the lees for at least 9 months
